Description

Crispy air fryer butternut squash fries with tender centers, ready in about 15 minutes. Includes directions for Trader Joe's Butternut Squash Zig Zags cooked from frozen.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound butternut squash, peeled and cut into ¼-inch sticks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic and parsley seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Peel the butternut squash, trim both ends, and halve it lengthwise. Scoop out the seeds. Cut the flesh into ¼-inch sticks.
  • Toss the sticks with olive oil first, then add the seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 2–3 minutes.
  • Arrange the fries in a single layer in the basket. Air fry 12–15 minutes, shaking at the halfway point, until the edges are golden and crisp.
  • Serve immediately with your dipping sauce of choice.

Equipment

  • Cooking Spray
  • Parchment Paper, optional

Notes

  • Trader Joe's Butternut Squash Zig Zags: cook from frozen at 400°F for 12–15 minutes, shaking at 7 minutes. Skip the oil and salt them after cooking.
  • Cut thickness matters more than anything else. ¼ inch is the target.
  • Work in batches rather than crowding the basket.
