Ingredients
1packageprepared pie crust
1teaspooncornstarch
1tablespoonwater, cold
5mediumapples
1teaspoonground cinnamon
1/2cupgranulated sugar
1teaspoonpure vanilla extract
1largeegg
1tablespoonmilk
Other: Vanilla Ice Cream, Powdered Sugar, Chocolate Sauce, Whipped Cream or Caramel Sauce for Serving
Instructions
In a small mixing bowl, mix the cornstarch and water mix until well blended. Then in a saucepan, over low-medium heat, place the apples, cornstarch mixture, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sugar, simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat, and set aside.
On a flat and floured surface, spread out the cold dough. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into 1/3 inch wide strips.
Preheat your air fryer to 320 degrees F, air fryer setting, for about 5 minutes.
Using a sharp knife, cut the tops of the rest of the apples (4). Using a spoon, remove the seeds and core the apples. Fill the cavity with pie filling.
Once your apples are filled, add the dough on top. You can either line it up or weave the dough in a lattice pattern, remove any excess dough.
In a small mixing bowl, mix the egg and milk, brush the top of the apples with the egg/milk mixture, and sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.
Place the apples into the air fryer basket.
Set the time for about 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
Serve with the drizzled caramel and vanilla ice cream.
