Ingredients 

  • 4 large Cube Steak , or Round Steak, tenderized
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs, or panko breadcrumbs

White Peppery Country:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Begin by seasoning your tenderized steak with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. In the first dish, place flour. In the second dish, beat the eggs. In the third dish, add bread crumbs or panko breadcrumbs.
  • Dredge the seasoned steak in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the steak with bread crumbs, pressing them onto the surface to ensure a good coating.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes.
  • Lightly grease the air fryer basket or tray with cooking spray or a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
  • Place the breaded steak in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they don't overlap. You may need to cook in batches if your air fryer has limited space.
  • Spray the top of the steak with a bit more cooking spray to help it crisp up.
  • Cook for about 10-15 minutes, flipping the steak halfway through the cooking time, or until it's golden brown and crispy. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer's size and wattage.
  • While the steak is cooking, prepare a creamy white gravy on the stovetop using the pan drippings, flour, milk, and seasonings. Pour the gravy over the air-fried steak before serving.
  • Serve your air-fried Country Fried Steak with mashed potatoes, collard greens, or your favorite Southern sides for a hearty and comforting meal.

Notes

To Make The Gravy:
  1. In a small saucepan, add the butter, simmer on low heat until melted, then whisk in the flour, milk, salt, and black pepper. Continue to simmer until thickened.
