Description

Air Fryer Apple Pie Baked Apples are amazing! If you are a huge fan of Apple Pie, this is the recipe for you! Start your fall off right with a homemade apple pie baked right in the apples.

Ingredients 

  • 1 package prepared pie crust
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water, cold
  • 5 medium apples
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Other: Vanilla Ice Cream, Powdered Sugar, Chocolate Sauce, Whipped Cream or Caramel Sauce for Serving

    Instructions

    • In a small mixing bowl, mix the cornstarch and water mix until well blended. Then in a saucepan, over low-medium heat, place the apples, cornstarch mixture, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sugar, simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat, and set aside.
    • On a flat and floured surface, spread out the cold dough. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into 1/3 inch wide strips. 
    • Preheat your air fryer to 320 degrees F, air fryer setting, for about 5 minutes.
    • Using a sharp knife, cut the tops of the rest of the apples (4). Using a spoon, remove the seeds and core the apples. Fill the cavity with pie filling. 
    • Once your apples are filled, add the dough on top. You can either line it up or weave the dough in a lattice pattern, remove any excess dough.
    • In a small mixing bowl, mix the egg and milk, brush the top of the apples with the egg/milk mixture, and sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.
    • Place the apples into the air fryer basket.
    • Set the time for about 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
    • Serve with the drizzled caramel and vanilla ice cream.
