Description

Air Fryer Texas Toast Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are so good! If you have been looking for one of the best ways to make a homemade grilled cheese in your Air Fryer, this is one of my favorites!

Ingredients 

  • 4 slices thick bread, Texas Toast or a similar thick-sliced white bread
  • 2-4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1-2 teaspoons garlic powder, or to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese, such as mozzarella, cheddar, or a blend

Instructions

  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C). Preheating ensures the bread gets crispy and golden.
  • Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with garlic powder. Adjust the amount of garlic powder based on how garlicky you like your bread.
  • Butter the Bread: Spread the garlic butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. These buttered sides will be the outer sides of your grilled cheese, creating that crispy, flavorful crust.
  • Add Cheese: Place half of the cheese on the unbuttered side of two bread slices. If using additional fillings, add them on top of the cheese. Then, top with the remaining cheese and close the sandwiches with the other slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
  • Cook in the Air Fryer: Place the prepared sandwiches in the air fryer basket. You might need to cook them one at a time, depending on the size of your air fryer. Cook for about 4-6 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese has melted. The exact cooking time may vary based on your air fryer model.
  • Serve: Once cooked, let the sandwiches cool for a minute before cutting. This brief resting time helps distribute the heat, making the cheese perfectly gooe
