Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken Wings Recipe

Description

If you love the sweet and savory taste of teriyaki, then this Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken Wings recipe is just for you! You don't need to sacrifice taste and flavor when preparing a healthy meal.

Ingredients 

  • 1 pound chicken wings, fresh or frozen
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Teriayki Sauce Ingredienst:

  • 1 cup store-bought teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water, cold

Instructions

  • If you're using store-bought teriyaki sauce, you will need to add it to a small saucepan. In a small bowl, make your cornstarch mixture, add the cornstarch and water, and mix well, before adding to the teriyaki sauce in your small saucepan. Simmer for a few minutes, over low-medium heat, stirring constantly, to prevent the sauce from burning.
  • Using a paper towel to remove excess moisture from the chicken wings. In a large bowl, add the cornstarch, kosher salt, and black pepper, and toss to coat the chicken wings.
  • Spray your air fryer basket with cooking spray, place the coated chicken wings into the air fryer basket, in a single layer, and set the cooking time for 18-24 minutes at 400 degrees f, using the air fyrer setting. Use a meat thermometer and check the internal temperature of the chicken wings, when eh internal temperature reaches, 165 degrees, use a pair of tongs to remove the chicken wings.
  • Place the chicken wings into a medium bowl, pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken wings, reserve half of the sauce, for dipping, and return to the air fryer, cook for another 4-5 minutes at 400 degrees F.
  • Serve with white sesame seeds or sliced green onions

Notes

Homemade teriyaki sauce ingredients
  • 1 cup water (cold)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 5 teaspoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or fresh garlic
Cornstarch Slurry:
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  •  
Add all of the ingredients (except for the cornstarch slurry ingredients) and simmer over low-medium heat, for about 1-2 minutes. In a small bowl, add the cornstarch and water, and mix well, slowly pour the cornstarch slurry into the teriyaki sauce, and simmer for 5-7 minutes, until thickened.
