Description

What could be better than waking up to the smell of French toast in the morning? How about French toast that is made with apple pie filling and topped with cinnamon sugar? If you have an air Fryer, you can easily make this delicious breakfast dish. Check out the recipe below to learn how!

Ingredients

  • 4-6 slices sandwich bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon apple pie spice
  • 2 tablespoon cinnamon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter, unsalted
  • 1 cup apple pie filling
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F, air fryer setting.
  • In a large bowl, mix the eggs, milk, apple pie spice, nutmeg, & 1 Tsp of cinnamon sugar.
  • Dip a piece of bread into the egg mixture until it’s completely covered.
  • Then place the piece of bread into the air fryer basket. Continue with the rest of the bread, making sure not to overlap.
  • You may need to do multiple batches to fit the bread in.
  • Melt the butter in the mirowave.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the bread.
  • Place the basket into the air fryer and “air fry” for about 10 minutes. Flipping the toast over halfway through cooking time.
  • Please remove it from the air fryer, and it should be a nice golden brown.
  • Sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon sugar on top.
  • Top with apple pie filling & drizzle with syrup!
  • Plate, serve, and enjoy!

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Notes

  • You can find the canned apple pie filling in the baking aisle! This is optional but, heating the apple pie filling really takes it to the next level. You can do this on the stovetop or in the microwave.
  • I used the prepackaged cinnamon sugar. You can find it in the spice aisle. You can also make your own with equal parts ground cinnamon & granulated sugar.
  • I used thick sliced sandwich bread. You could also use Texas toast, French bread, challah, or brioche.
  • Want to go all out? You can even top this with powdered sugar and white chocolate chips!
  • French toast is best enjoyed right away!
