Easy Air Fryer Old-Fashioned Liver and Onions, tender and silky with perfectly caramelized onions. Quick, classic comfort food made simple in your air fryer.

Ingredients 

  • 1 1/2 pound baby calves liver
  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard

Instructions

  • Pat 1 1/2 pound baby calves liver dry with paper towels. Season both sides with 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder and 1 teaspoon dry mustard.
  • Peel and cut 2 large onions into rings. Toss lightly with a bit of salt and pepper.
  • Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and let it preheat for 3–5 minutes.
  • Place the liver slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Top with onion rings, spreading evenly over the liver.
  • Cook at 375°F for 8–12 minutes, flipping the liver halfway through. Onions should be soft and slightly caramelized, and liver cooked through but tender.
  • Remove liver and onions from the basket and plate immediately. Serve with mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables, or crusty bread for a classic comfort meal.
