Description

Slow Cooker Root Beer Sloppy Joes are an easy, sweet, and tangy twist on a classic sandwich. Perfect for hands-off weeknight dinners, casual family meals, or feeding a crowd.

Ingredients 

  • 2 pounds ground beef, browned
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 1 large red bell pepper, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup root beer
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ cup quick cooking oatmeal
  • 12 slider buns
  • Optional sliced cheddar cheese or pickles for serving

Instructions

  • Add the 2 pounds ground beef, 1 small onion, 3 cloves garlic1 large green bell pepper, and 1 large red bell pepper to the slow cooker.
  • In a small bowl whisk together 1 cup root beer, 1 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon yellow mustard, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, ½ teaspoon garlic powder and ½ teaspoon onion powder, slowly fold in the ¼ cup quick cooking oatmeal.
  • Pour the sauce over the beef mixture and stir gently. Cover and cook on Low for 4 to 6 hours or High for 2 to 3 hours.
  • Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto 12 slider buns. Add Optional sliced cheddar cheese or pickles for serving.
