Description

Ingredients 

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dried fruit, raisins, cranberries, or a mix
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts, walnuts, pecans, or a mix
  • 1/3 cup honey

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Stir well to ensure even distribution of the spices.
  • Add the cold, cubed unsalted butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the bread tender.
  • Gently fold in the dried fruit and chopped nuts of your choice.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
