Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Stir well to ensure even distribution of the spices.
Add the cold, cubed unsalted butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the bread tender.
Gently fold in the dried fruit and chopped nuts of your choice.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
