Description

Prepare a mouthwatering Ninja Foodi Beef Osso Buco quickly with this pressure cooker recipe! Tender beef, rich broth, and savory veggies make for a comforting, flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ - 2 pounds beef shank
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup diced white onion
  • 1 cup diced carrot
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 teaspoons dried oregano
  • ½ cup white wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes

Instructions

  • Turn on your Ninja Foodi’s saute function. Set it to high and heat your oil for a few minutes. Once the olive oil is hot, sear your beef on all sides and then add the celery, carrots, and onions. Leaving the beef in the pot, cook your veggies for a few minutes.
  • Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, white wine, beef broth, and diced tomatoes. Give everything a quick stir to help the spices distribute better.
  • Pressure cook your osso buco on high for 1 hour and then let the instant pot naturally release its pressure.
  • Remove the beef and set your Ninja Foodi to saute on high heat. Stir the mixture occasionally and let it cook for 5 minutes.
  • Plate your beef and spoon some of the veggie mixture over the beef. Enjoy!

Equipment

  • Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker, or Instant Pot Pressure Cooker
  • Cooking Tongs

Notes

Notes:
  • Don’t worry about draining your diced tomatoes, you’ll use the liquid to help cook keep the beef from drying out. It also adds a little extra flavor to the dish.
  • You can leave your beef on the bone after it cooks or remove it and shred it.
  • Osso buco is traditionally served over a bed of mashed potatoes.
  • If you’d like, you can use ⅛ cup of fresh oregano instead of dried oregano. You can also use a few sprigs of fresh thyme or rosemary.
  • You can add a hint of sweetness to your osso buco by using a yellow onion instead of a white one. This pairs particularly well with the tomato, but if you want a more savory flavor use a white onion.
