Description

Discover the delicious flavors of La Madeleine Quiche Lorraine, a classic French-inspired dish with a buttery crust, savory bacon, creamy eggs, and melted cheese. Perfect for brunch or any special occasion!

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust, store-bought or homemade
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped, optional

Instructions

  • Roll out your pie crust and gently place it in a 7-inch round or 8-inch square air fryer-safe pan. Press it into the sides, trimming any excess crust.
  • Cook the bacon in a skillet or air fryer until crispy. Once cooked, crumble it into small pieces.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
  • Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the pie crust. Then, layer on the shredded Swiss and Gruyère cheeses.
  • Pour the egg mixture into the crust, ensuring it’s evenly distributed over the filling. If desired, sprinkle chopped green onions on top.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C). Place the pan in the air fryer basket and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the quiche is set in the center and lightly golden on top. (Check after 20 minutes to ensure it doesn't overcook.)
  • Let the quiche cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade Air Fryer La Madeleine Quiche Lorraine!

Notes

Notes

  1. Leaving it in the air fryer too long, you want a quiche that bounces just a little, when you go and cut, it, otherwise if it's firm, it just means that it has been overbaked, you want a light and fluffy quiche.  So, cook until the edges are just set, just a little brown on the edges.
  2. Find an air fryer-safe pan that is deep enough to hold your crust and your filling but leaving a couple of inches of space between the filling and the edge of the pan. Otherwise, the ingredients might fly around the air fryer.
  3. Leftovers make for unique add-ins to the quiche, so check your refrigerator before you "complete making yours," there is always something good to add in from the fridge. Anything in your refrigerator is a fair game from cheese, meats, seafood, poultry, or vegetables.
  4. All filling ingredients should be cooked, not raw.
  5. Frozen pie shells make excellent dough for the quiche. Just bake your shell first. Otherwise, you will end up with a soggy crust.
  6. Quiche continues to cook after you remove it from the oven, so it will firm up quickly after it's removed from the heat source (oven or air fryer)
  7.  If your quiche is overcooked, it will start to curdle.
