Today, I am going to show you one of the best recipes! You can now make this rich, savory flavor of Hardee’s famous breakfast gravy at home with this easy copycat recipe—perfect for biscuits, mashed potatoes, or any Southern-style meal
Ingredients
1poundbreakfast sausage, mild or spicy
1/4cupall-purpose flour
2 1/2cupswhole milk
1/2teaspoonsalt, adjust to taste
1teaspoonblack pepper, more to taste
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until fully browned and crumbled. Don’t drain the grease—this adds flavor!
Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage. Stir well to coat the sausage and absorb the fat. Cook for 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
Slowly add the milk while stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Keep stirring until the mixture begins to thicken and bubble. Add salt and plenty of black pepper to taste. Simmer for a few more minutes until the gravy reaches your desired consistency.
Spoon the sausage gravy over warm, fluffy biscuits and enjoy a true Southern-style breakfast!
