Description

First Watch Floridian French Toast Recipe made with brioche bread, eggs, orange juice, and warm spices for a sweet citrus brunch classic. Easy homemade version of the restaurant favorite.

Ingredients 

  • 8 slices brioche bread, or challah bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, more for skillet
  • Maple syrup, for serving
  • Powdered sugar, for topping (optional)
  • Fresh berries or banana slices, optional

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk 4 large eggs, 1 cup whole milk, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1 tablespoon orange zest 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon until smooth.
  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 2 tablespoons butter.
  • Dip each slice of 8 slices brioche bread into the custard mixture, coating both sides quickly.
  • Place soaked bread onto hot skillet and cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Add more butter as needed between batches for even browning.
  • Serve warm with Maple syrup, Powdered sugar, and Fresh berries or banana slices.
