Description

Recreate the iconic First Watch waffles at home with this easy recipe. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a weekend treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups Milk
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted, unsalted
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Plug in and let your waffle iron warm up while you prepare the batter. A hot waffle iron ensures crisp edges.
  • In a large bowl, combine 2 cups All-purpose flour,2 tablespoons Baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon Salt, and 2 tablespoons Sugar. Whisk well to evenly distribute the leavening.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the 2 large Eggs and then add 1 3/4 cups Milk, melted 1/2 cup Butter, and 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract. Mix until smooth.
  • Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; small lumps are okay—overmixing can make waffles dense.
  • Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a little melted butter. Pour enough batter to cover the waffle grid (usually about ¾ cup, depending on your waffle iron). Close the lid and cook according to your iron’s instructions, typically 4–6 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Carefully remove waffles and serve warm with butter, syrup, fresh fruit, or your favorite toppings.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
