Description

A warm, glossy cinnamon caramel dip made in one pan with five ingredients. Sweet, buttery, and finished with flaky salt — perfect for dipping cinnamon sugar pita chips, apple slices, or pretzels.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup heavy cream, warmed
  • 5 tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon flaky salt, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Add the granulated sugar to a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula as it melts into a smooth amber syrup, about 5–7 minutes.
  • Carefully stir in the salted butter until fully melted and glossy. The mixture will bubble.
  • Slowly stream in the warm heavy cream, stirring continuously, until smooth.
  • Stir in the cinnamon and kosher salt until evenly blended.
  • Simmer 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the dip coats the back of a spoon. It thickens further as it cools.
  • Remove from heat and cool 5 minutes. Transfer to a serving bowl, sprinkle with flaky salt, and serve warm with cinnamon sugar pita chips.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan (light-colored if possible)
  • Wooden spoon or heat-resistant silicone spatula

Notes

  • Warm the heavy cream before adding it — cold cream will seize the caramel.
  • Avoid a whisk while melting the sugar; caramel hardens in the wires.
  • For a thicker, scoopable dip, chill for 30 minutes before serving.
