Ingredients 

  • 1 lb Ground Beef, 80/20 for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 lb Breakfast Sausage
  • 3 cups Long-Grain White Rice, Cooked and cooled
  • 1 small Yellow Onion, Finely diced.
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, Finely diced.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced.
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 tablespoon Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne, (optional for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper

Instructions

  • In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the 1 lb Ground Beef and1/2 lb Breakfast Sausage together over medium-high heat. Break the meat into very small crumbles—the smaller the better for that authentic "dirty" look.
  • Once the meat is browned, do not drain all the grease (leave about 1 tablespoon for flavor). Add the diced 1 small Yellow Onion, 1 Green Bell Pepper, and 2 cloves Garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are soft and translucent.
  • Stir in your spices (1 tablespoon Chili Powder, 1 teaspoon Cumin, 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder, 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne1 teaspoon Salt, and 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper). Add the uncooked r3 cups Long-Grain White Rice and 2 cups Beef Broth. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  • Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork to distribute the meat and veggies evenly.
