Cream Cheese Spread with Warm Cherry Sauce—smooth, creamy, and topped with sweet-tart cherry sauce for a quick, elegant appetizer.
Ingredients
8ouncesblock cream cheese, room temperature
2cupdark cherries, pitted and chopped
1tablespoonhoney,
½teaspoondried rosemary, or 1½ t. fresh leaves, finely chopped
¼teaspoonground cumin
½teaspoonground cinnamon
¼teaspoonsalt
1/3cupwater
¼cuppecans, roughly chopped
1teaspoonfresh rosemary leaves, finely chopped
Instructions
Heat a large, high-sided skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add the 2 cup dark cherries, 1 tablespoon honey, ½ teaspoon dried rosemary, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon ground cumin¼ teaspoon salt and 1/3 cup water, stirring to combine.
Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the liquid reduces by half and thickens into a rich sauce, about 8–10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
Place the 8 ounces block cream cheese on a serving platter and spoon half of the warm cherry sauce over the top. Reserve the remaining sauce to drizzle later or serve on the side.
Sprinkle with chopped ¼ cup pecans and finely chopped 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary leaves, if desired.
