Description

Recreate the rich and creamy Cracker Barrel Mashed Potatoes at home with this easy recipe. A comforting side dish perfect for any meal or family gathering.

Ingredients 

  • 2 pounds Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/4 cup margarine, or butter
  • 1/2 cup milk, warm, more as needed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Place chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
  • Drain the potatoes well and return them to the pot.
  • Mash the hot potatoes using a potato masher or hand mixer.
  • Stir in margarine and warm milk. Continue mashing until smooth and creamy, adding more milk if needed.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Spoon into a bowl, top with a pat of butter or fresh herbs, and serve warm.
