Description

Make Bob Evans Colonial Dressing (copycat recipe) at home! Your family will love this sweet, tangy and creamy goodness on salads, slaws, dips and get-togethers.

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/8 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup Cider Vinegar
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Butter , or Margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Celery Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Celery Seeds

Instructions

  • Combine the 1 cup Water and 1/8 cup Cornstarch in a blender. Purée on high until smooth, about 1 minute.
  • Pour the purée into a 2½-quart saucepan. Cook over medium high heat, stirring constantly.
  • Stir in the 1/2 cup Cider Vinegar , 1 cup Sugar , 1 teaspoon Onion Powder , 1 teaspoon Salt , 1/4 cup Butter or margarine, 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper , 1 teaspoon Celery Salt and 1 tablespoon Celery Seeds . Stir well after each addition.
  • Keep stirring and cooking until the mixture is thick and shiny.
  • Take off heat and allow to cool completely. Cool and then place in a well sealed jar in the refrigerate. The dressing will keep for up to 6 weeks in the refrigerator.
