Description

Make crispy, golden Captain D’s Copycat Catfish at home! Easy, flavorful, and tender, this recipe brings the restaurant favorite straight to your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Catfish fillets,
  • 1 cup Cornmeal,
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour,
  • 1 teaspoon Salt,
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper,
  • 1/2 teaspoon Paprika, optional
  • 1 cup Buttermilk,

Instructions

  • Pat 1 pound Catfish fillets dry with paper towels. This helps the coating stick better.
  • In a shallow bowl, mix 1 cup Cornmeal, 1/2 cup All-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon Salt, 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon Paprika.
  • Pour 1 cup Buttermilk into another bowl. Dip each fillet in the buttermilk, then coat thoroughly with the cornmeal mixture.
  • Preheat the air fryer – Set to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil. Place fillets in a single layer, making sure they don’t touch. Spray tops lightly with cooking oil. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove fillets carefully and serve with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or your favorite sides.

Equipment

  • Cooking Spray
  • Parchment Paper, optional
