Description

Sweet, smoky, and tangy homemade BBQ dipping sauce that tastes just like Burger King's — ready in 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper, optional
  • 2 tbsp water, to thin, as needed

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and whisk until smooth.
  • Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low.
  • Simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  • Taste and adjust — more vinegar for tang, more brown sugar for sweetness.
  • Remove from heat and let cool. The sauce thickens as it sits. Serve or store in an airtight jar.

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Whisk

Notes

Sauce thickens as it cools. For an ultra-smooth, glossy finish, blend with an immersion blender. Flavor improves after a few hours in the fridge. Store refrigerated up to 2 weeks or freeze up to 3 months.
