Sizzle up a classic Asian-inspired dish with a twist using your Blackstone griddle. This Beef and Broccoli recipe brings together tender beef slices and crisp broccoli in a savory and slightly sweet sauce, perfectly suited for the high heat and fast cooking of a flat-top griddle. Enjoy this restaurant-quality dish in the comfort of your home.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef, flank or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water , or beef broth
  • 1 stalk Green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, oyster sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  • In another bowl, mix cornstarch with water or beef broth to create a slurry.
  • Place the thinly sliced beef in a bowl and pour half of the soy sauce mixture over it. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Heat your flat-top griddle to medium-high heat.
  • Lightly oil the griddle.
  • Cook the marinated beef in a single layer, allowing it to sear and brown. This should take about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Once the beef is cooked and has a nice sear, remove it from the griddle and set it aside.
  • Add a bit more oil to the griddle if needed.
  • Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry until they are bright green and tender-crisp, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Return the cooked beef to the griddle with the broccoli.
  • Pour the remaining soy sauce mixture and the cornstarch slurry over the beef and broccoli.
  • Stir everything together and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and coats the beef and broccoli evenly.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions.
  • Serve hot, ideally over a bed of steamed rice or noodles.

Equipment

  • Blackstone Griddle, or Flat-Top Griddle
  • Cooking Oil

Notes

Tips:
  • Even Slicing: Ensure the beef is sliced evenly for uniform cooking.
  • High Heat for Searing: The high heat of the griddle is perfect for getting a good sear on the beef and cooking the broccoli quickly to retain its crunch.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Griddle: Cook in batches if necessary to prevent steaming and to ensure each piece of beef and broccoli gets enough heat.
  • Constant Stirring: Keep the ingredients moving on the griddle to cook evenly and to prevent burning.
