Description

Make crispy, golden Arthur Treacher’s fried pickles at home with this easy copycat recipe. Perfectly seasoned and crunchy, these fried pickles are a delicious appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dill pickle chips, drained and patted dry
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ½ cup buttermilk, or regular milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, or regular breadcrumbs for finer coating

Instructions

  • Drain 1 cup dill pickle chips and pat them dry with paper towels. This is important so the coating sticks.
  • Set Up Breading Stations:
  • Bowl 1: Mix ½ cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon paprika, ½ teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon black pepper.
  • Bowl 2: Whisk 1 large egg and ½ cup buttermilk together.
  • Bowl 3: Add 1 cup panko breadcrumbs.
  • Dredge each pickle chip in the flour mixture, dip into the egg mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs. Press gently so the crumbs stick.
  • Place breaded pickles in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
  • Air fry at 400°F for 7–9 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Enjoy hot with ranch, tartar sauce, or Arthur Treacher’s remoulade sauce.

Equipment

  • Cooking Spray
  • Parchment Paper, optional
