Description

Indulge in Air Fryer Welsh Rarebit with a creamy cheese sauce, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, perfectly melted over crispy toast. A savory snack made in minutes!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread, your choice, such as sourdough or whole grain
  • 1 cup grated cheese, cheddar is traditional
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon mustard, Dijon or English
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt, optional
  • teaspoon black pepper, optional
  • 1 tablespoon beer, optional
  • 1 teaspoon paprika, or cayenne pepper, optional

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to form a roux, cooking for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until the mixture thickens. Add the cheese, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and optional beer, stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika or cayenne, if desired.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Place the slices of bread in the air fryer basket and generously spoon the cheese mixture over each slice. Air fry for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as a delicious snack or light meal!
