Description

This Air Fryer Italian Grilled Cheese Sandwich layers creamy provolone, Genoa salami, hard salami, and prosciutto between crispy golden bread — all the flavor of an Italian sub in a hot, melty grilled cheese that's ready in just 13 minutes. It's the easiest cheesy lunch you'll make all week.

Ingredients 

  • 4 slices bread, Italian, ciabatta, sourdough, or focaccia
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, or butter
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 slices Genoa salami
  • 4 slices hard salami
  • 4 slices prosciutto

Instructions

  • Prep the bread. Spread mayonnaise or butter on one side of each slice of bread. This buttered side faces out and crisps in the air fryer.
  • Build the sandwiches. Place two slices mayo-side-down. On each, layer provolone, Genoa salami, prosciutto, hard salami, and a second slice of provolone. Top with the remaining bread, mayo-side-up.
  • Air fry. Place the sandwiches in the air fryer basket in a single layer (parchment or a spritz of cooking spray helps prevent sticking). Air fry at 400°F for 5 minutes.
  • Flip and finish. Carefully flip each sandwich with a spatula and air fry another 3 minutes, until the bread is deeply golden and the cheese is fully melted.
  • Rest and serve. Let the sandwiches rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve warm — with marinara for dipping, if you like.
