  • 1 pound chicken wings
  • 2 cups general tso sauce
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Instructions

  • Thoroughly pat dry the chicken wings with paper towels. This step ensures the wings get crispy in the air fryer.
  • In a large bowl, toss the wings with a pinch of salt and pepper. You can also add a light dusting of baking powder (about 1 tablespoon for 2 pounds of wings) to enhance crispiness.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes. This step ensures even cooking right from the start.
  • Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they aren’t touching or overcrowded (you may need to cook in batches).
  • Fry the wings at 380°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, then flip each wing over.
  • Increase the temperature to 400°F (205°C) and fry for another 10-12 minutes or until the wings are golden brown and crispy.
  • While the wings are cooking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine ready-made General Tso's sauce (available at most grocery stores) with a splash of soy sauce, a spoonful of minced ginger, minced garlic, and a sprinkle of red chili flakes if you desire extra heat.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and let it cook for 2-3 minutes, then set aside.
  • Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the General Tso's sauce over the wings, tossing well to ensure they are evenly coated.
