Description

Flaky air fryer salmon in a sweet-and-tangy honey pepper sauce — an easy 20-minute copycat of Applebee's restaurant favorite.

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets, about 6 oz each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Honey Pepper Sauce

  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, whisk together all the sauce ingredients. Simmer over medium-low heat for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring often, until thickened and syrupy. Remove from heat.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 5 minutes and lightly oil the basket.
  • Pat the salmon dry, rub with olive oil, and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Air fry the salmon at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes, until it flakes easily and reaches 145°F internally.
  • Spoon the warm honey pepper sauce over the fillets and serve immediately.

Equipment

Notes

  • Cook to an internal temperature of 145°F for perfectly flaky salmon.
  • Make a double batch of sauce to keep in the fridge for up to a week.
  • Adjust the cayenne up or down to control the heat.
