Description
Roasted chestnuts made in the air fryer in about 15 minutes. Score, soak, air fry, then steam in a towel so the shells and skins peel off easily.

flaky sea salt
,
optional
1
tablespoon
melted butter
,
optional
Instructions
Place each chestnut flat side down and cut a deep X through the shell and inner skin on the rounded side.
Cover the scored chestnuts with very hot water and soak for 10 minutes. Discard any that float, then drain.
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
Arrange the chestnuts cut side up in a single layer in the basket.
Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking halfway, until the X curls open and the flesh is golden.
Wrap the hot chestnuts in a clean kitchen towel for 5 minutes.
Peel while warm. Toss with butter and salt if desired, and serve.
