Description

Air Fryer Homemade Kourabiedes (Greek Sugar Cookies) --Do you want to make some delicious Greek cookies? These are very popular in Greece, and they taste amazing. You can find them at the grocery store, but there is something special about making your own! They're pretty easy to make, too.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup room temperature butter
  • 1/8 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon Greek Brandy, any Brandy will do
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Mix the flour, baking powder, butter, powdered sugar, egg yolk, brandy, and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix well, being sure to scrape the sides down.
  • Use an ice cream scooper to get round cookies or about 2 tablespoons of batter.
  • Spray your air fryer tray, or line the basket with parchment paper.
  • Scoop the cookie dough into the prepared air fryer basket.
  • Use the back of the spoon to flatten out the cookies.
  • Set the tray into the air fryer and set the temperature to 320 degrees F for 5 to 8 minutes. (air fryer setting)
  • Let cool as they come out of the air fryer oven. I did two batches. Then coat them with powdered sugar.
  • Plate, serve, and enjoy!

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Parchment Paper
  • Cooking Spray

Notes

SUBSTITUTIONS AND TIPS AND TRICKS TO MAKING PERFECT KOURABIEDES

  • If you want a really fluffy cookie, cream the sugar and butter together. Which will create air pockets in the cookie dough, for a softer cookie.
  • Try to make all of the cookies about the same size to air fry up together.
  • Use a spoon to flatten out the cookie so that it bakes evenly.
  • Line your basket with either parchment paper or a reusable silicone air fryer liner for best results. Otherwise, you will find that your dough falls through the basket holes.
  • When you roll your cookies into the powdered sugar, they should be cool. Otherwise, the cookies will melt the powdered sugar.
  • You can eliminate brandy if you want a family-friendly dessert. But you do not taste the brandy.
  • You can add about 1 to 2 teaspoons of sesame seeds if you wish.
