Are you a fan of Carolina Style Hot Dogs? If so, you're going to love this air fryer recipe! These hot dogs are cooked in the air fryer and then topped with coleslaw and chili sauce. They're the perfect quick and easy meal for any night of the week!

Ingredients

  • 2 beef hot dogs
  • 2 slices bacon
  • 10 ounces hot dog chili
  • 1/4 cup purple onions, diced
  • 1 cup coleslaw, prepared
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard, adjust to taste
  • 1 sandwich roll, or sausage roll

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F, and set the timer for 3 to 4 minutes
  • As the air fryer is heating, slice a sausage bun or sandwich roll so that it will lay open flat. Be careful not to cut the bun all the way in half
  • Once the air fryer has reached 400 degrees, toast the bun for one minute 30seconds, then set it aside.
  • Slice two bun length beef hot dogs in a circular manner with the slices about a half-inch apart down the hot dog
  • Having sliced the hot dogs, it is time to wrap them!
a.Lay one piece of center cut bacon vertically on a piece of parchment paper or cutting board.
    b. Add one hot dog horizontally to the top edge of the vertical bacon slice and roll it once to secure.
    c. Lay the second next to the first hot dog on the bacon. Make sure the rolled end of the bacon is sandwiched between the two hot dogs.
    d. At an angle, wrap the bacon twice around the two hot dogs and tuck the end of the bacon between the hot dogs.
    e. Take the second piece of bacon and tuck it in where the first piece of bacon ended.
    f. At an angle, wrap the bacon twice around the remaining half of the hot dog.
    g. Secure the end of the bacon between the hotdogs.
  • Place the bacon-wrapped double dog in the center of the air fryer tray. Place the tray back into the air fryer and cook for 8 minutes. Check the bacon at around 6 minutes to make sure that it is not overcooked!
  • While the double dog and bacon are cooking, chop up ½ of a fresh purple onion and set it aside.
  • Next, add the chili to a microwave safe bowl, and following the manufacturer’sinstructions, heat the chili until it is warm throughout
  • On the toasted bun, spread the heated chili on both sides of the bun
  • When the double dog has finished cooking, remove it from the air fryer and set it in the middle of the bun. Top the bacon double dog with a line of chili.
  • Next, in a crossing motion, top the bacon double dog and both sides of the bunwith yellow mustard to your exact taste
  • Having added the mustard, now it is time to add the freshly chopped onion! Add the chopped onion to the top of the double-dog and both sides of the bun to your personal satisfaction
  • For the grand finale, we will now top our new creation with a heavy helping offresh coleslaw!Add as much as you like! Your taste buds will thank you!
  • Plate, serve, and enjoy!
