Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips -- Sweet potatoes are a versatile vegetable that can be roasted, mashed, or made into chips. They're a healthy option for snacking and make a great side dish. Air fryer sweet potato chips are easy to make and have the perfect crispy texture. You'll love how delicious and simple they are to make!

Ingredients 

  • 1 pound sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons grapeseed oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 390℉, air fryer setting.
  • Wash and peel the sweet potatoes with a vegetable peeler to remove the skin.
  • Set the mandolin to 2 mm. Do a few test slices to make sure your thickness is where you want it. The sweet potatoes should be as thin as a dime. If you slice them too thick, they won't crisp up after cooking.
  • Slice the sweet potatoes being careful of the blade. Be sure to use the safety guard that came with your mandolin or a cut-resistant glove.
  • Place the sliced sweet potatoes and the remaining ingredients in a large bowl and toss them together. You will have to get in there with your hands to make sure the spices get evenly distributed over both sides of the sweet potato slices.
  • Place the sweet potato slices in the preheated air fryer basket. It’s OK if they overlap slightly because they will shrink as they cook.
  • Place a wire rack on top of the sweet potato slices, so they don’t fly around and get stuck in the air fryer fan.
  • Cook the sweet potato chips for 5 minutes. Start checking at the 3-minute mark. Some of the chips will cook faster than others.
  • Remove any chips that are brown around the edges. They will be pliable when you take them out of the basket but will start to crisp up as they cool.
  • Serve the chips with sandwiches, burgers, or as a snack.
