Description

Welcome, cooks! In this recipe, we'll be taking a look at how to make Philly cheesesteaks in an air fryer. Philly cheesesteaks are a classic sandwich that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, and they're perfect for feeding a crowd. Plus, since the air fryer does all the cooking for you, they're really easy to make. So let's get started!

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces ribeye, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup sweet onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 4 large hoagie rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, unsalted, room temperature
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Start by seasoning your meat with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix the garlic with the butter (room temperature), toss with the steak, onions, and peppers.
  • Add your sliced green onions, bell peppers, and steak to the air fryer basket, mix well, to coat the steak and vegetables with the butter. Set the temperature to 390 degrees F, air fryer setting, and cook for 10 to 12 minutes. About halfway during the cooking process, shake the basket.
  • Divide the meat into the hoagie rolls, and then top with a piece of provolone cheese. Add back into the air fryer until the cheese is melted.
  • Plate, serve, and enjoy!

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Cooking Spray
  • Parchment Paper, optional

Notes

Storing, Freezing, and Reheating Air Fryer Philly Cheesesteaks
Storing:
  1. Cool Completely: Let your Philly Cheesesteaks cool to room temperature.
  2. Refrigerate: Place them in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Freezing:
  1. Cool Completely: Ensure your Philly Cheesesteaks have cooled entirely to room temperature.
  2. Wrap and Seal: Individually wrap each cheesesteak in aluminum foil. Then, place them into a freezer bag, squeezing out as much air as possible.
  3. Label and Freeze: Clearly label the freezer bag with the date and contents. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Reheating:
  1. From the Fridge: For best results, reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes or until heated through. Alternatively, you can use a conventional oven preheated to 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes.
  2. From the Freezer: If reheating directly from the freezer, first unwrap the cheesesteak from the aluminum foil. Place in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 6-8 minutes or in a conventional oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, checking occasionally to ensure it doesn't dry out or burn.
Note: When reheating, the bread may become a bit crispier than the original. If you prefer a softer roll, wrap the cheesesteak in aluminum foil when using the oven method.
