Start by washing the blackberries thoroughly.
Gently pat them dry with a paper towel. It’s important to remove as much moisture as possible to aid in the dehydration process.
If you want, you can cut larger berries in half, but this is optional.
Preheat your air fryer to a low temperature, ideally around 130°F to 140°F (55°C to 60°C). If your air fryer doesn’t go this low, set it to the lowest possible temperature.
Place a piece of parchment paper in the air fryer basket to prevent the berries from falling through the holes (optional).
Spread the blackberries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Ensure they are not overlapping, as this can cause uneven drying.
Cook the blackberries at the low temperature for about 4 hours. The exact time can vary depending on your air fryer and the size of the blackberries.
Halfway through the drying process, open the air fryer and shake the basket or use a spatula to gently turn the blackberries. This helps them dry evenly.
The blackberries are done when they are completely dry and have a chewy texture. They should not feel moist or sticky.
If they’re not done after 4 hours, continue dehydrating in 30-minute increments until the desired dryness is reached.
Let the dehydrated blackberries cool completely before storing them.
Store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. They can last for several months if stored properly.
