The question is what Instant Pot (or on my site, IP) do I need?
Now, I won’t convince you of anything, I don’t believe in that.
You make up your own mind.
I simply let you know the options and what ones are out there, and if you follow my blog, I will let you know, when they are on sale.
There are three types of Instant Pots, which were all developed by the same person, Robert Wang, which despite the huge hype in the last couple of years, has been out since 2010.
There are three main types, Lux, Duo, and Smart. (as of this post)
The Lux:
The Lux has three models, currently available
The Lux is the second model that Instant Pot rolled out, but their first model is discontinued.
The main difference between the Lux and Duo is that it does not have the Yogurt or HIgh-pressure setting.
It’s called the 6 in 1 Programmable multi-cooker
The 3 quart has a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, saute, steamer and warmer.
It is ideal for cooking for 2, I use it for side dishes and sauces.
The built-in settings are soup/broth, meat/stew, egg, saute, rice, porridge, steam and slow cook.
It has a 24-hour delay start timer.
6 in 1 multifunctional cooker, has a pressure cooker, saute/browning, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, warmer and a cake setting
The built-in settings are soup/broth, meat/stew, cake, egg, saute’, rice, multigrain, porridge, steam and slow cook.
Delay cooking timer, up to 24 hours.
The 6 quart has a pressure cooker, rice cooker, saute’, steamer, cake maker and warmer.
The build in settings are soup/broth, meat/stew, cake, egg, saute’, rice, multigrain, porridge, steam, slow cook.
It has a 24-hour delay start timer.
The 8 quart has a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, saute’ steamer and warmer, cake and egg.
The built-in settings are soup/broth, meat/stew, cake, egg, saute’, rice, multigrain, porridge, steam and slow cook.
It has a 24-hour delay start timer.
The Duo:
Currently, it only comes in 3, 6 and 8 quarts
The Duos have 7 in 1 Multicooker, it has a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice/porridge cooker, Yogurt Maker, Saute’/Searing Pan, Steamer and warmer.
It all has 11 built-in smart programs, soup/broth, meat/stew, bean/chili, slow cook, saute’/searing, rice, porridge, steam, yogurt, keep warm and pressure cook.
It is ideal for cooking for 2, I use it for side dishes and sauces.
It has a 24-hour delay start timer.
This is currently the most common version.
It has a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, egg cooker, saute’ steamer, warmer, sterilizer and cake maker.
The built-in settings are soup/broth, meat/stew, bean/chili, slow cook, saute’, delay start, keep warm, high or low-pressure level, rice, porridge, steam, yogurt and pressure cooker.
It also has a delayed start and keep warm settings.
It has a 24-hour delay start timer.
It has a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, egg cooker, saute’ steamer, warmer, sterilizer and cake maker.
The built-in settings are soup/broth, meat/stew, bean/chili, poultry, slow cook, saute’, high or low pressure, manual, adjust button, timer, rice, multigrain, porridge, steam, yogurt and keep warm button.
It also has a delayed start and keeps warm settings.
It has a 24-hour delay start timer.
Duo Plus
Currently only comes in a 6 and 8 quarts
This one has a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, egg cooker, saute’, steamer, warmer, sterilizer and makes cakes (including cheesecakes)
Has 15 programmable buttons, which include:
Soup/broth, meat/stew, bean/chili, cake, egg, slow cooker, saute’, rice, multigrain, porridge, steam, sterilize, yogurt, pressure cooker (high and low), also has a keep warm and delay start button.
This one also has a blue LCD light, it remembers 3 sets of custom settings.
Currently only comes in the 6-quart model.
This one has both dial and press settings.
The newest features are altitude adjustment, cooking indicator and a steam release reset button.
It also allows for custom programming.
It includes a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice/porridge cooker, yogurt maker, cake maker, egg cooker, steamer, warmer and sterilizer.
This one if the most advanced of them all, as it allows you to download recipes and program them into your Instant, which is a free download.
It also is compatible with getting directions from Alexa, but it will allow you to create custom programs.
It has the following settings: Soup, meat/stew, bean/chili, poultry, slow cook, yogurt, rice, multigrain, porridge, steam, and high and low-pressure settings, as well as keep warm and adjustments.
