Fresh or Canned Tomatoes?

When it comes to making a sauce, the choice of tomatoes is important. Today, I used a simple canned tomato, which works well in this recipe.

But, if you are in the midst of a tomato harvest, you can switch the canned tomatoes out for either Plum or Roma tomatoes.

Sugar in Tomato Sauce?

My grandmother, a true Sicilian woman, always put sugar in the sauce, which really balances the acid in the sauce. It will really add a lot of flavors and enhance the flavor.

How To Store Marinara Sauce?

Marinara sauce is one of the most versatile sauces that you can make.

To Store Marinara Sauce in the Refrigerator: The marinara sauce will keep in your refrigerator for about a week and in the freezer for up to three months! Let the sauce cool to room temperature, and then place the sauce into an airtight container.

To Store Marinara Sauce in the Freezer: To freeze the marinara sauce, pour the desired amount into an ice cube tray and allow frozen cubes to set overnight. Once they’re ready, put them back into freezer baggies or containers. Label with the date, so you know when they were made!

To Use instant Pot Fresh Garlic Marinara Sauce from the freezer, let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Then reheat in the microwave or a small saucepan until warmed through.
