What Is Quiche?

Many people don’t know what quiche is, but it’s actually a great dish that you can make with just a few ingredients.

Quiches can either be made with a buttery crust or crustless. Traditional quiche is filled with eggs, cheese, cream, or milk (or combinations of these). They can have vegetables like mushrooms or spinach, herbs like thyme or parsley, salt, and pepper.

While the traditional method would call for you to bake the quiche in an oven for about 40 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until it is done, today we prepared it in the Air Fryer in about 15 minutes! Talk about a time saver!

Quiches are deliciously served hot by themselves as breakfast food, cold as an appetizer to share with friends and family during your next brunch gathering or picnic outside on the weekend!

Quiche With Tart Pan On Pie Dough Air Fryer Spinach Feta Quiche

Remove refrigerated pie crust from the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before preparing quiche. Unroll dough and place your tart pan on top of the crust. Cut a circle (it doesn’t have to be perfect) about 1 inch outside the border of the tart pan.

Press the crust into the tart pan, tucking the edges down along the sides and cutting off any excess dough so that the crust is even with the top of the pan.

Place the prepared quiche back into the air fryer’s basket and cook at 300°F for another 10 minutes or until the egg is set in the center.

Pro Tips:

  • This recipe will work in any Air Fryer, either the Basket or Oven Model. I have made this several times in different air fryers, including the PowerXL, Instant Pot Vortex, Instant Pot Crisp Lid, Ninja Foodi, and GoWise. The recipe will be the same, and the cooking time will vary.
  • You can use fresh or frozen spinach. If using fresh spinach, be sure to chop it small enough to cook in the air fryer.
  • Sprinkle the top of the egg with extra cheese if you’d like – this is mostly for aesthetics.
  • I found the best results by pre-cooking the crust for about 5 minutes before adding the filling. Otherwise, the crust does not cook on the bottom by the time the egg filling is set.
  • One large egg is the perfect amount for this individual quiche. Adjust the amount of heavy cream you add if you need a bit more filling. You may not use all of the egg fillings either. You can fill to the top of the crust edge, but the amount of egg needed will vary slightly depending on how many other ingredients you’ve added to the quiche.

How To Store Air Fryer Quiche

A quick and easy breakfast that you can make in advance is the Air Fryer Spinach Feta Quiche.

I love making a batch on a lazy Sunday afternoon and then reheating them during the week. For best results, let the quiche cool to room temperature and then place them into an airtight container or Ziploc Bag. They will last in the refrigerator for about 2 to 3 days.

To Reheat Quiche In The Air Fryer

To reheat the quiche, place them back into the air fryer at 300 degrees F, air fryer setting, until warmed through. I usually add some additional cheese on top to freshen it up.

How To Freeze Air Fryer Quiche

Are you looking for a breakfast or brunch recipe that is easy to make and doesn’t need to be prepped the night before?

Air fryer quiche is an excellent dish with minimal prep work, and they freeze amazingly! The key to freezing quiche is to let them cool to room temperature and then place them into a freezer-safe container.

You can freeze them for about 2 to 3 months. To Air Fry Frozen Quiche, follow the recipe here.

Variations:

I know that a lot of people are suffering from allergies, here are some great replacements. Remember to check the ingredients before using them since the ingredients will depend on what brand you are using:

Pie Crust: You can use either premade, homemade, regular, or gluten-free. The recipe will work the same.

Heavy Cream: If you are lactose intolerant, you can substitute it for Oat Milk, Almond Milk, or another Lactose-Free alternative.

Cheese: You can use Vegan and Lactose-Free Cheese.

Eggs: If you want, you can use an egg substitute. Use the amount that is equivalent to 1 egg.

What Quiche Pans To Use For This Recipe:

While you may have some great baking pans in your cabinets or pantry, I recommend that you purchase a set of 5-inch tart pans with a removable bottom. This is one of the perfect things to bake Air Fryer Pie and Tarts in, and of course, Quiches.

These are the ones that I used in this recipe: (affiliate links included)
