What Is Thai Peanut Chicken?

Thai peanut chicken is a dish that has been around for centuries. Thai cuisine has always been well known for its use of peanuts, and this recipe uses them to create a fantastic flavor combination with soy sauce, ginger, garlic, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. This dish is hearty enough to be used as a main course but can also be served as an appetizer when cut into smaller squares. Give it a try!

How To Make Air Fryer Thai Peanut Chicken

Air Fryer Thai Peanut Chicken

Start by dicing your chicken up into 1-inch pieces.

Air Fryer Thai Peanut Chicken

Pour the peanut sauce into a small bowl. I dipped the chicken in the sauce and then let it sit there for about 10 minutes before threading it through a wooden skewer.

Air Fryer Thai Peanut Chicken

Place the threaded skewers on an air fryer tray or directly into the air fryer basket.

Set the plate into the air fryer and set the temperature to 350 degrees F for 5 minutes, not including preheat temperature. (air fryer setting) After, check the internal temperature of your chicken breast. If it is not 165 degrees, return to the air fryer for another couple of minutes.

Once the chicken was fully cooked, I basted it again with the Peanut sauce and broiled it for 3 minutes at 450 degrees F,

Plated over a batch of white jasmine rice (instant pot) and served.

Can you make Thai Peanut Chicken ahead?

Yes, this is a great meal that you can make ahead of time. I often prep this dish and then cover and refrigerator until it’s time for dinner or lunch.

Keep the chicken tightly wrapped in saran wrap so the chicken doesn’t try out.

What To Serve Air Fryer Thai Peanut Chicken With?

This is a traditional dish that is either served with rice or noodles. Some of my favorite recipes to pair this dish with are:

Do I Need To Oil The Basket?

I oiled the chicken before placing it into my air fryer. I had no problems sticking because the chicken was already lightly coated in the sauce, but you can use a small amount of spray if desired to ensure that they don’t stick together while cooking.

Can I Cook Frozen Chicken In The Air Fryer?

Absiolklteuy, the cooking time will vary, and for best results, use a meat thermometer. Your chicken is fully cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

Can I Use A Homemade Peanut Sauce For The Chicken?

Yes, of course, use any of your favorite peanut sauces; the recipe will remain the same. I used a great Thai Peanut Sauce, which I have been using for years: House of Tsang Bankcock Peanut Sauce. I also do love Mr. Spice Organic Thai Peanut Sauce. Both of these have amazing homemade flavors!

What Do I Do With Leftover Chicken?

This Air Fryer Thai Peanut Chicken is amazing for leftovers, and I recommend that you let the chicken cool to room temperature and then place it into an airtight container. Wher it will last for 2 to 3 days.

You can shred the chicken, add it to salads, burrito bowls, or tacos, and spread it over rice for a classic dish!
