Air Fryer Sugared Pecans
Whip these sugared pecans up for the holidays, a fun weeknight treat, or to gift to a loved one. This recipe is so simple, pantry essential ingredients, and quick cooking.
Here are a few simple steps, so you can make them in your own air fryer-
In a small bowl mix together the egg white, water, and vanilla extract. With a fork, mix the egg mixture, until frothy.
Then mix in the sugar, and ground cinnamon. Mix well. Stir in the pecans, and mix, so they are well coated.
I lined my air fryer tray with foil, so it would be easier to clean up. Spread the mixture over the tray. Set the temperature to 300 degrees F (air fryer setting) for 12 minutes.
Are praline pecans the same as candied pecans?
Pralines are essentially made with a caramel mixture, and candied pecans are not. Candied pecans use egg whites, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Both are a great pecan snack, but they will offer a different flavor component.
Does the sugar harden on this sugared pecans recipe?
Your candied sugar pecans will harden once it sits on the counter for around 5-10 minutes. You will see the nuts are beginning to show the sugary crust to be hardening. But allowing it to sit at room temperature for a handful of minutes will help to ensure the coating hardens up.
Why are my candied pecans sticky?
If your candied pecans offer a sticky texture that means the sugar mixture didn’t cool long enough. The sugar has to reach a high enough temperature for so long to help it turn brittle.
Otherwise, you can find that the pecans can still be a bit sticky in texture. Either way, this recipe is delicious whether it is crunchy or a bit soft.
How Long Can These Sugared Pecans last?
If you want to store your pecans on the counter they will last for up to a week. If you store your nuts in the refrigerator, it will last for up to two weeks. This recipe is so simple and a great one to munch on.
For freezing, you can allow the nuts to cool and then store them in an airtight freezer container for up to two months. Then thaw on the counter or in the fridge overnight before you want to serve them up.
The texture will be slightly softer once it thaws from being frozen. But the flavor will taste just as good as fresh.
Tips For Making Air Fryer Pecans
- Make sure to ensure the pecans get fully coated and evenly on all the pecans.
- Use pecan halves instead of pieces. The halves will work great to be coated and then air fried.
- Always ensure to stir and check the nuts often to prevent them from burning.
- You can double the recipe if you would like. Just make sure to cook in batches so all the nuts are evenly cooked.
