What Are Sirloin Steaks?
Sirloin steaks are a cut of beef that comes from the sirloin area. They are tender yet flavorful and can be cooked in many different ways–air fried, grilled, pan-seared, braised, or roasted! Sirloins are best when they’re sliced thin to maximize flavor.
Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Sirloin Steak with Pastrami Compound Butter
- Sirloin Steaks
- Olive Oil or Melted Butter
- Black Pepper
- Pastrami Spice Blend
How To Make Air Fryer Sirloin Steak with Pastrami Compound Butter
Start by preheating the air fryer. Steak is one of the few recipes that I preheat the air fryer for. But the meat will come out better, so turn the air fryer oven /basket on for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F, air fryer setting.
Then rub the olive oil or butter all over the steak and season with salt and pepper. Set the steaks in the air fryer for 6 minutes, then flip and air fry for another 6 minutes.
While the steak is air frying, mix the room temperature butter with the pastrami spice blend. You can either serve it on the side or top.
IS FROZEN OR FRESH STEAK BEST?
Frozen meat has a chewier texture than fresh. This is because freezing causes ice crystals to form, which affects how proteins contract and relax when cooked; this means there are more amino acids in frozen meats that can give you extra bite with every bite!
For the best steak to cook or even air fryer, look for a steak that has never been frozen.
HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER STEAK
The Air Fryer method for steaks is a great way to cook them. Place the meat in and let it do its thing! You don’t need any special skills or tools. Just an air fryer that can hold both at once without overlapping will work nicely- if not better than anything else I’ve tried before (and there have been many!).
The Points To Remember:
Crowding: Do not let your meat overlap. Otherwise, you will end up with slightly undercooked parts of the steak. So for best results, leave space in the air fryer for the hot air to do its magic.
Preheat your Air Fryer: Nothing makes for a better sear on a steak than putting a steak into a heated air fryer. It will create a great exterior and a great and tender steak dinner.
Timing: The timing will really depend on a few variables, including the thickness of the steak, the air fryer you are using, and the way that you like your steak.
Meat Thermometer: Nothing is better than a meat thermometer to tell you when your steak is done. If you use one, your steak will be perfect every single time.
HOW LONG TO COOK STEAK IN THE AIR FRYER
You love steak, but you don’t want to fire up the grill. Air frying is a great alternative because it’s fast and easy. But how long should you cook that perfect cut of beef?
For all air fryer steaks, you should start with a preheated air fryer oven and then set the steaks into there for about 4 to 6 minutes, depending on the thickness of the steak. Then flip the steak, and cook a few more minutes until your steak is done to your liking.
The general guidelines for temperature are below:
- 115 to 120 Extra Rare
- 125 to 130 Rare
- 130 to 140 Medium-Rare
- 140 to 150 Medium
- 150 to 155 Medkum-Well
- 160 and above Well-Done

- 2 16 ounces sirloin steak (about 1 1/2 inch thick)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter (room temperature)
- 2 teaspoon pastrami spice blend
- When making steak (I got this hint from one of Bobby Flay’s shows), the first thing I do is let the meat rest at room temperature for AT LEAST 30 minutes.
- Start by preheating the air fryer. Steak is one of the few recipes that I preheat the air fryer for. But the meat will come out better, so turn the air fryer oven /basket on for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F.
- Then rub the olive oil or butter all over the steak and season with salt and pepper.
- Set the steaks in the air fryer for 6 minutes, then flip and air fry for another 6 minutes.
- Again, per Bobby Flay, let the steak rest for at least 5 minutes.
- While the steak is air frying, mix the room temperature butter with the pastrami spice blend. You can either serve it on the side or top.
- Plate, serve, and enjoy!
