Roasted Chickpeas

If you have never had roasted chickpeas, you probably wonder what all the rage is; they are a healthy and crispy snack.

I first started making roasted air fryer chickpeas because my son went to pick up a bag of seasoned ones at Whole Foods, where I found the bag was over $5., so I quickly grabbed a can of chickpeas, for under $1.00, and made my own batch. After that, we were always making a new flavor! A great, easy, and budget-friendly snack!

You can add them on top of anything, from a simple salad to a fish dinner. They are a great substitute for croutons.

Add your chickpeas to the air fryer basket or spread them over the air fryer tray; spread them out, so that they are in a single layer, as they will cook more evenly.

Set the timer for 6 minutes, at 375 degrees F, air fryer setting, for 15 minutes, shaking the basket several times during the cooking process.

Some Common Questions About Roasting Chickpeas

Pro Tips:

  • The key to really crispy chickpeas is to dry them fully off. But then you really need to make sure that they are coated with olive oil, this way, they will crisp up.
  • If you find that your chickpeas are not crispy, keep on cooking them until they are. Since each air fryer is slightly different, your batch may need more or fewer minutes than my batch.
  • I always reseason mine for additional taste after cooking, so add some extra olive oil, vinegar, and salt for best taste.

Are roasted chickpeas good for you?

Yes, they are. Whether you use dried chickpeas or canned chickpeas, they are very healthy. They are high in fiber and protein, and they make for a filling snack.

They are great for individuals who are looking for weight loss and controlling their blood sugar levels.

How long can you keep roasted chickpeas?

The truth is that they will not last long. After a couple of hours, they tend to lose their crunch. The best way to preserve them is to place them in an airtight container.

It would help if you put them back into the air fryer to re-crisp them.
