Philly cheesesteaks are fantastic, with juicy steak pieces topped with cheese. Today, I stuffed all of the ingredients into a bell pepper. I am sharing my recipe for Air-Fried Philadelphia Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers Air Fryer.

I have lived in Philly for a few years, and nothing is better than a homemade Philly cheese steak. A few things make a Philly Cheesesteak a Philly Cheesesteak.

What is a Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Pepper?

A traditional Philly cheesesteak is made of sliced rib-eye steak sauteed and topped with melted cheese. In Philly, they use Cheez Whiz to my kid’s dismay, but I am supposed to use shredded cheese today. You can top it with anything, but the standard toppings are fried onions, mushrooms, and hot peppers.

What Cut of Meat Should You Use?

The traditional choice is rib eye steak, but you can use any lean cut of meat. Some alternatives are flank, skirt steak, or top sirloin. They all work well in this recipe. Some people have been telling me that they have been using steak umm for steak umm stuffed peppers! Talk about easy!

What Kind of Cheese Should I Use?

As mentioned above, the traditional cheese you will find in Philly cheesesteaks is Cheez Whiz, so if you want an authentic taste, go with that. Otherwise, you can use shredded mozzarella or provolone.

Storing & reheating

This is a great recipe to make ahead of time. You can always assemble them and keep them covered in the refrigerator for a couple of days before air frying them.

If you have any leftover cheesesteak bell peppers, let them cool to room temperature and then place them in an airtight container. Placed in the refrigerator, they will last for about 2 to 3 days.

You can reheat them in the air fryer or microwave, heating them until warm.

Can You Freeze Stuffed Peppers?

Yes! Cook them as directed, then let them cool to room temperature. Then, place the stuffed peppers in a freezer-safe container or freezer bag. They will last for 2 to 3 months.

To cook, leave in the refrigerator overnight, reheat in the air fryer at 350 degrees F, and heat until the peppers are warmed.
