This was a really easy recipe, and I wanted to see if I could make my son some Gluten-Free Snacks, these are much cheaper than buying at the grocery store. Although most corn chips are gluten-free, I just worry about the cross-contamination, so these were easy enough to fix for him, for a snack. And the homemade Instant Pot Salsa, was a real treat, that recipe is here:
Homemade Instant Pot Salsa (Great Flavors)
These are the tortillas, I used in this recipe. White Corn Tortilla.
Layout the tortillas in a stack. I counted out 5.
I used a pizza cutter, to make wedges, cut the tortilla in half and then make three wedges out
On each side, the total amount is 30 pieces you get from 5 tortillas.
Place the cut wedges into a small mixing bowl, and mix together the olive oil, salt and lime juice (use enough,
so you coat each and every wedge) I added an optional dash of salt (after they were cooked too). Note: I use my hands for these, to coat each one.
As I put it on the ungreased air fryer tray (If you have a basket, just put them in the uncoated basket)
The weight of the oil will keep them from flying around (at least in the Omni Air Fryer)
Then set the temperature to 320 degrees F (air fryer setting), but you only need 4 minutes, after 2 minutes,
I flipped the chips so that they wouldn’t get burnt on the side. I made this 2x, once without flipping them, and they were dark brown, the second batch, I flipped them and they came out MUCH better.
Then, what I realized after doing the first batch, is as they cool, (I put mine on a dish towel) they harden slightly.
