What Are Resurrection Rolls

Resurrection Rolls, Empty Tomb Rolls, or Easter Resurrection Rolls are symbolic treats enjoyed during Easter. These sweet rolls are typically made with crescent roll dough wrapped around a marshmallow, symbolizing Jesus’ body wrapped in linen cloths for burial. As the rolls bake, the marshmallow melts, leaving a space inside the roll, representing the empty tomb discovered on Easter morning. The rolls are often coated in cinnamon sugar or glazed with icing, adding to their deliciousness. Resurrection Rolls are a tasty treat and a meaningful reminder of the Easter story.

Faq’s

Can I use homemade dough instead of crescent roll dough? Yes, you can use homemade dough if you prefer. Just ensure it’s rolled out thinly and wrap it tightly around the marshmallow filling.

Can I make these in advance? While they are best enjoyed fresh, you can prepare the Hocus Pocus Buns to wrap the marshmallows and store them in the refrigerator for a few hours before air frying.

Can I freeze them? Yes, you can freeze the unbaked Hocus Pocus Buns. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, freeze until solid, then transfer them to a freezer bag. When ready to bake, allow them to thaw slightly before air frying.

How do I prevent the marshmallow from melting out? Ensure the crescent roll dough is tightly sealed around the marshmallow to prevent it from leaking during air frying. You can also try chilling the wrapped buns in the refrigerator for a few minutes before air-frying them to help firm up the dough.

Can I reheat leftovers? Yes, you can reheat leftover Hocus Pocus Buns in the air fryer at a low temperature for a few minutes until warmed through. However, they are best enjoyed fresh.

What size marshmallows should I use? Large marshmallows are typically used for Hocus Pocus Buns. You can use regular-sized marshmallows, but they may not create as dramatic of an effect when baked.

Can I use other fillings besides marshmallows? Absolutely! For a unique twist, feel free to experiment with different fillings, such as chocolate chips, fruit preserves, or even Nutella.

Notes

Prepare The Basket: Spray your basket with cooking spray, or line it with an Air Fryer Reusable Silicone Liner/Mat.
Crowing The Basket: While we all like to get as much food as possible, crowding the basket causes the dough not fully to cook up. So, for best results, leave space between the rolls
What Air Fryer To Use: This recipe will work in any Air Fryer Basket or Oven Model. This recipe will also work in any Air Fryers, including the Ninja Foodi, Instant Pot Vortex, Instant Pot Crisp Lid, and the Mealthy Lid.
Cooking Time: The cooking time will depend on your air fryer. For best results, check on your Air Fryer Hocus Pocus Buns frequently while they are cooking up. So they don’t end up burnt.
