Why You Will Love This Recipe!

  • Quick and Easy: The air fryer significantly reduces cooking time, making this pepper steak a perfect option for busy weeknights. You can enjoy a delicious, hearty meal in less time than it takes to preheat an oven or grill.

  • Healthier Option: Cooking in an air fryer requires less oil than traditional frying methods, making this pepper steak a healthier choice without sacrificing flavor. You get a mouthwatering meal with fewer calories and less fat.

  • Bell Peppers: You can use any bell pepper or a variety of colored bell peppers, making this dish colorful.

  • Olive Oil: If you have sesame oil, you can substitute it for olive oil.
  • Minced Garlic: Use freshly minced garlic; bottled garlic is fine.
  • Ground Ginger: You can also use ginger paste.
  • Soy Sauce: You can use either regular or low-sodium soy sauce.

How To Cook Pepper Steak In The Air Fryer

Here are the simple steps to make this delicious air-fried pepper steak recipe.

Air Fryer Pepper Steak

Start by slicing your meat against the grain on a large cutting board. Add all your meat, olive oil, minced garlic, ground ginger, soy sauce, salt, and pepper to a large plastic bag; place the bag in the refrigerator for at least an hour to marinate. Overnight is best, but an hour will get you the great flavors.

When you cook your pepper steak, cut your peppers and onions and place them in the air fryer basket. Add a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and shake the basket so the olive distributes over the peppers and onions. Set your timer for 10 minutes at 400 degrees F. After 10 minutes, open your air fryer basket and shake, add another 4 minutes, and then, after 4 minutes, place the steak on top of the vegetables (Peppers and onions). Set the timer for 5 minutes. Check on the doneness of the steak. If you want more time, add more time.

Pro Tips:

  • Steak Cooked In Batches: Be careful not to crowd your basket. If you need to cook in batches, that would be better than crowding your air fryer basket.
  • Preheat Air Fryer: You do not need to preheat your air fryer, but if you want the steak to sear, you can do so at 400 degrees F for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Shaking/Flipping: To ensure an evenly cooked pepper steak, you must shake or flip it frequently as it cooks.
  • Timing: Since every air fryer differs slightly, you must watch your pepper steak as it cooks.

Faq’s

Can I use a different cut of beef than flank steak? Yes, you can use sirloin, ribeye, or any other tender, quick-cooking cut of beef. Just ensure it’s thinly sliced against the grain for the best texture.

Do I need to marinate the beef before air frying? While not strictly necessary, marinating the beef for even a short time can enhance the flavor and tenderness of your pepper steak. Even 30 minutes can make a difference.

Can I add other vegetables to this dish? Absolutely! Feel free to include other vegetables you enjoy, such as sliced mushrooms, zucchini, or snap peas. Just keep in mind that different vegetables may have varying cooking times.

How do I know when the beef is cooked? The beef slices should be browned on the outside and reach your desired level of doneness on the inside. This usually takes about 8-10 minutes in the air fryer, but checking a piece before serving is always good.

Is it possible to overcook the beef in the air fryer? Yes, overcooking can happen, especially since the air fryer cooks food quickly. To avoid tough, overcooked beef, check it periodically and remove it from the air fryer once it’s cooked to your liking.

Can this dish be made ahead of time? While it’s best enjoyed fresh, you can prepare the beef and vegetables ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to eat, just air fry for a quick and easy meal.

How should I store leftovers? Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer or microwave until heated through.

Can I freeze cooked pepper steak? Yes, cooked pepper steak can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and reheat well before serving.

What should I serve with air fryer pepper steak? Serve your pepper steak over a bed of white rice, quinoa or noodles to soak up the delicious sauce. Steamed or roasted vegetables also make a great side.

How can I adjust the spiciness of the dish? The spiciness can be easily adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount of black pepper. For more heat, you can also add a dash of red pepper flakes or a bit of hot sauce to the marinade.
