What Is Corned Beef Brisket?

Corned beef brisket is a cut of meat from the breast or lower chest of a cow, which is cured in salt and spices. The ‘corned’ part of its name comes from the treatment, which consists of packing it with large salt crystals called ‘corns’.

Corned beef brisket is usually sold pre-packaged with the brine and seasoning packet included.

Once the beef is cooked, it has the perfect texture for slicing and is delicious on sandwiches. Corned beef in the air fryer is particularly tender and ready in no time!

How To Air Fry Corned Beef

Step 1: Cook The Brisket

Set the air fryer temperature to 250 degrees. Place corned beef in air fryer and cook for 20 minutes.

Check the brisket with a meat thermometer. It’s done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Add 5 to 10 minutes if you need more time.

Step 2: Rest and Serve

Let the air fryer corned beef rest for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing. Always slice against the grain for the most tender results.

How to Store Corned Beef Air Fryer Leftovers

After you air fry corned beef, place leftovers in an airtight container or a freezer bag. They will keep in the refrigerator for about 5 days.

Reheat slices in the microwave or air fryer until warmed through. Or, serve cold on sandwiches!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can corned beef be frozen?

After making this corned beef brisket recipe, allow the meat to cool completely. Then, move the brisket slices to an airtight container or freezer bags. It can be frozen for up to 3 months.

Do you rinse corned beef before cooking?

Some people choose to rinse off the corned beef before cooking it, but you do not have to. Rinsing the beef removes the excess salt from the meat, which gives it a milder flavor.

If you do choose to rinse, be sure to pat dry with paper towels before you air fry corned beef.

Which cut of corned beef is more tender?

The point cut is considered more tender due to extra fat and marbling, but it’s best for shredding instead of slicing. Flat cut is the top choice for perfect slices of tender corned beef — you can plate them with a variety of sides or layer them on a sandwich!

Either cut will work with this corned beef air fryer recipe. The results are foolproof!
