What Are Texas Road House Rattlesnake Bites

Much to everyone’s delight, they do not contain any Rattlesnake parts. (A common question, according to the Internet)

According to the Texas Roadhouse Menu, they are a fried ball that contains jalapeno and cheese and are then fried up. Typically it is served with a Cajun Horseradish Sauce. Your Rattlesnake Bites will be deep-fried if you go to a Texas Roadhouse. Today, I took it up and prepared them in my air fryer.

Pro Tips

Here are some pro tips for making Air Fryer Rattlesnake Bites:

  • Use Room-Temperature Cream Cheese. Softened cream cheese blends more easily with the other ingredients, ensuring a smoother filling consistency.
  • Double Dip in Breadcrumbs: To get an extra crispy coating, double dip the stuffed jalapenos in breadcrumbs twice before air frying.
  • Spray with Cooking Oil: Lightly spray the stuffed Rattlesnake Bites with cooking oil before air frying to promote even browning and crispiness.
  • Arrange in a Single Layer: Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure proper air circulation and even cooking. Arrange the rattlesnake bites in a single layer with some space between them.
  • Flip Halfway Through Cooking: For even browning, flip the rattlesnake bites halfway through the cooking time using tongs.
  • Check for Doneness: Pierce the Rattlesnake Bites with a fork to check if they’re cooked through. They should be golden brown and tender inside when done.
  • Serve with Dipping Sauce: For added flavor, pair the rattlesnake bites with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing, chipotle mayo, or salsa.
  • Adjust Cooking Time: Air fryers may vary in cooking times, so adjust the cooking time as needed based on your specific air fryer model and the size of the stuffed jalapenos.

Following these pro tips, you can make delicious and crispy Air Fryer Rattlesnake Bites to impress your guests!

Air Fryer Rattlesnake Bites

Faq’s

What are Rattlesnake Bites? Rattlesnake Bites are a popular appetizer consisting of jalapeno peppers stuffed with a creamy cheese filling, breaded, and deep-fried or air-fried until crispy.

How spicy are Rattlesnake Bites? The level of spiciness can vary depending on the type and amount of jalapenos used. Removing the seeds and membranes can reduce the heat level while leaving them intact will make the bites spicier.

Can I make Rattlesnake Bites ahead of time? Yes, you can prepare the stuffed jalapenos ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator until ready to fry. Alternatively, you can freeze them for longer storage and fry them straight from the freezer.

What can I use as a filling for Rattlesnake Bites? The most common fillings include cream cheese and shredded cheese, such as Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack. Additional ingredients like cooked bacon, sausage, or diced vegetables can also be added for extra flavor.

Can I bake Rattlesnake Bites instead of frying them? You can bake Rattlesnake Bites in the oven at around 375°F (190°C) until golden brown and crispy. However, they may not achieve the same level of crispiness as when deep-fried or air-fried.

What dipping sauces go well with Rattlesnake Bites? Famous dipping sauces for Rattlesnake Bites include ranch dressing, chipotle mayo, barbecue sauce, or salsa. Choose a sauce that complements the flavors of the spicy jalapenos and creamy cheese filling.

How do I prevent the filling from oozing out during frying? Ensure the stuffed jalapenos are well sealed with the breading to prevent the filling from leaking. Additionally, chilling the stuffed jalapenos before frying can help set the filling and reduce the risk of leakage.

Can I make Rattlesnake Bites with other types of peppers? Yes, you can use different kinds of peppers, such as Anaheim or mini bell peppers, for a milder version of Rattlesnake Bites. Adjust the filling and cooking time accordingly based on the size and heat level of the peppers.

Serving Suggestions: Anything will go with these; I serve them with a big salad for a healthy and delicious side dish. The cheese is vibrant, so serving it with some vegetables is best.

Do I Have To Freeze? One of the most essential parts of air-frying cheese is freezing it. This way, as the outside is cooking, the inside cooks simultaneously. If you do not freeze them solid, you will have a floppy mess in your air fryer basket.

What Do Rattlesnake Bites Taste Like? No, although they have both the diced jalapenos and the cayenne pepper. The cheeses do a great job of blending them out. Reduce the jalapenos added to the mixture and omit the cayenne pepper to make them milder.

Freezing This makes a great and easy appetizer. I made a whole batch, and then after they were frozen solid, I transferred them to a Ziploc Bag. Then, when you are ready to bread them, continue with the recipe.

Storing: If you have leftovers, let them cool to room temperature and put them in an airtight container. Then, put the container in the refrigerator. Reheating Rattlesnake Bites In Air Fryer: Place them in the air fryer basket, spray them with cooking spray, and heat at 350 degrees F, air fryer setting, until they are heated through.
