This is a really fantastic breakfast. As it combines three of my favorite foods, chocolate, bread, and strawberries. There is nothing like Air Fryer Chocolate French Toast!
It is almost like eating dessert for breakfast. My family loved it. My youngest son was licking the plate to get all of the confectionary sugar off his plate. It was amazing. I mean who doesn’t love chocolate, maple syrup, and powdered sugar for breakfast?
The chocolate french toast is very healthy for you since you are not frying it. It’s nice and light. I used the perfect bread I got this weekend at Wegmans, challah bread. If you have not purchased challah bread it is light, thick, and just yummy by itself.
If you are like me, you like the french toast slices of bread thick, so it was nice that I could slice off and determine my thickness for the bread.
One trick I learned while making this french toast is to let it soak for about 5-10 minutes. The more that you soak, the bread, the better it will be.
This will be a fun recipe to make with all of the fresh fruit coming to the market soon, especially with the strawberry season, almost upon us.
I will have so much fun making french toast this year. The varieties are endless. And the air fryer makes it so easy.
Air Fryer Chocolate French Toast
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 6 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 loaf challah bread
- olive oil spray (for pan)
Simple Directions:
- Start by making your french toast batter in a mixing bowl, mix together the sugar, cocoa powder, salt, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
Mix well - Cut the challah bread (if not already cut) into slices, the thickness will depend on how you like it, I cut mine rather thick.
- Then place the sliced challah bread into the french toast batter, and let it soak 5 minutes per side.
- Then spray an air fryer safe pan with non-stick cooking spray, which will make it easier for you to flip.
- Set the temperature to 400 degrees F. (or 390 F, if your air fryer only goes up that high) for 4 minutes. Then flip and do another 4 minutes.
- Note: The actual cooking time for your french toast will depend on the thickness, the wattage of your air fryer, and the degrees that you have it on. 390 vs 400. Please check and make sure that it’s fully cooked.
- Remove from the air fryer, garnish as you wish.
- Plate, serve & enjoy!
Start by adding all of your ingredients into a bowl.
Use a whisk and mix well.
If you have unsliced bread, slice your bread into slices (the thickness is up to you, but it will affect the cooking time)
Soak the bread for about 5 minutes on both sides (total minutes=10)
Place the chocolate battered french toast into the air fryer basket, or pan. (I sprayed my pan, so it wouldn’t stick when I flipped it)
