What Are Pot Stickers?

Pot stickers are a type of Chinese dumpling that is made by wrapping a filling in dough and then cooking it until the dough is crispy. The most common fillings include pork, chicken, or beef, but vegetables can also be used.

Potstickers are usually served with a dipping sauce, and they can be cooked in a variety of ways, including steaming, frying, or boiling. While they may require some effort to make from scratch, pot stickers are an incredibly versatile dish that can be enjoyed as a snack, appetizer, or main course. So next time you’re looking for something new to try, why not air fry potstickers?

Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Homemade Potstickers

Making potstickers in the air fryer from scratch might seem like a lot of work, but it’s actually pretty easy–especially if you have an air fryer. All you need are a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, and you’ll be rewarded with delicious homemade dumplings.

Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Homemade Potstickers
  • Ground Chicken: You can also use lean ground turkey or ground pork. I would not recommend using ground beef, since it’s higher in fat, and will make your potstickers oily.
  • Napa Cabbage: Add some salt, which will help remove some of the moisture, so you don’t end up with soggy potstickers.
  • Mushrooms: Finely diced, either Portobello or button mushrooms.
  • Chives: Or green onions
  • Soy Sauce and Hoisin Sauce: You can also use gluten-free soy sauce or lower-sodium soy sauce.
  • Sriracha Sauce: Adds some great flavor to the dumplings.
  • Minced Garlic and Minced Ginger: For some added flavor.
  • Wonton Wrappers: Found in the produce department of any local American grocery store.

Tips For The Best Homemade Air Fried Potstickers

  • You need the right ingredients. For the filling, you can use just about any type of meat or vegetables that you like. Just make sure that the filling is well-seasoned so that it will be flavorful and moist.
  • Shape the potstickers. To do this, Place a heaping teaspoonful of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and then fold it over to form a triangle. Pinch the edges closed and then set the potsticker aside on a lightly floured surface. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Don’t crowd the basket. Make sure there is space between the air fryer pot stickers. This will allow them to cook properly.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I Pan Fry Dumplings?

Yes! To fry dumplings, start by heating some oil in a pan over medium heat. Then, add your dumplings to the pan and cook them for 3-5 minutes per side or until they’re golden brown and cooked through. Once they’re done, remove them from the pan and enjoy! You can serve your fried dumplings with dipping sauces like soy sauce or chili oil or simply enjoy them on their own.

Can I use frozen potstickers in the air fryer?

Yes! If you want to use frozen potstickers, you totally can, whether you purchase them from Trader Joe’s, or Aldis, they are amazing in the air fryer!

How long to cook frozen potstickers in the air fryer

Most brands of frozen pot stickers will have cooking instructions on the packaging. However, as a general rule, you’ll want to cook them for eight to 10 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. If your air fryer doesn’t have temperature control, you can cook them for four to five minutes on each side. Keep an eye on them as they cook, and remove them from the air fryer when they’re golden brown and crispy. Enjoy!
