Air Fryer Cheese Quesadillas –– One of my favorite guilty pleasures is cheese quesadillas. I love to cook them in the oven, but sometimes I don’t have the time to make something like that. That’s where air fryers come in handy! The best thing about cooking with an air fryer is that you can make all sorts of meals for your family. It doesn’t take much time, and it tastes great! These cheese quesadillas are one of my favorites because they’re quick and easy – perfect for any night when you want a tasty snack or meal without having to spend too much time in the kitchen.

Air Fryer Cheese Quesadillas are amazing! If you are looking for a quick lunch or snack, this is one of my kid’s favorite.

Made with a quick cheese filling and then layered on the toppings. This is truly one of the best things you can make in the air fryer. And it comes together in minutes.

While you can add any fillings that you want, I went with a traditional cheese quesadilla, but the possibilities are truly endless.

Place some toothpicks in the quesadilla to help weigh it down (sometimes the tortilla will fly into the heating element), or depending on the size of your air fryer, fold in half.

Set the tortilla into the air fryer and air fry for 350 degrees F, air fryer setting, for 6 to 8 minutes. If you want the tortilla to crisp up, add a few sprays of cooking spray.

Garnish with your favorite toppings, plate, serve, and enjoy!

PRO TIPS FOR MAKING THIS RECIPE

  • Use toothpicks; depending on which air fryer you own, you may need to use toothpicks to adhere the two tortillas together. Otherwise, the top tortilla may fly into the heating element, causing it to burn.
  • To get really crispy tortilla, spray with cooking spray.
  • If you want to add any fillings (like chicken or ground beef), make sure that the meat is cooked before adding it to our filings.
  • If you have a smaller air fryer, you can fold the tortilla.
  • Use your imagination. Anything that you order at a Mexican restaurant for a quesadilla can be made in the air fryer.

Best Fillings for Quesadillas

You can genuinely use anything you want for a filling, I have made both a meat version, using chicken, beef, and ground pork, and the air fryer does a fantastic job at crisping them up.

Corn or Flour Tortillas for Quesadillas?

I often make these with corn tortillas, as they are gluten-free, and the recipe works the same.

You can also make these with KETO-Friendly or Low-Carb versions. The recipe and the cooking times will remain the same.

What Is the Best Quesadilla Cheese?

Today, I used a Mexican cheese blend, but you can use any cheese you want.

Remember that the best cheese to use is freshly grated since repacked cheese is coated with potato or corn starch and therefore does not melt as well.

Some other great cheese options for your Air Fryer Cheese Quesadillas are:

  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Oaxaca
  • Shredded Swiss
  • Shredded Italian
  • Sharp Shredded Jack
  • Shredded Mozzarella

Storing & Reheating:

You can certainly make a huge batch of cheese quesadillas ahead of time. I would make them and then reheat them right before serving. YOu can add them back to your air fryer basket for a couple of minutes to remelt the cheese.

If you would like to make them and then refrigerate them for a quick lunch, prepare as directed, then let them cool to room temperature, and then wrap in saran wrap or place into an airtight container. They will last about 2 to 3 days.

To Freeze, follow the same procedure as above, but wrap tightly in saran wrap and then wrap in foil.

To use frozen, place the FROZEN quesadillas into the air fryer basket and air fry for about 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees F, air fryer setting. You will want to add your toothpicks as the quesadilla starts to thaw.
